Military Times has published its annual list of top 50 colleges serving the military based on the number of students taking courses using Military Tuition Assistance (TA). Excelsior College earned a top 10 ranking, with 6,196 active duty students using the education benefit (methodology).
Excelsior has advanced in the rankings each of the past four years. In 2013, the school ranked 12th.
The number of Excelsior students using veteran education benefits – Post 9/11, Montgomery and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment – is also on the rise. In fiscal year 2008, 1,202 Excelsior students received $2.3 million in education funds. By fiscal year 2014, there were 3,269 recipients of a total $13 million.
This is not the first time Military Times has honored Excelsior. In November 2013, Excelsior was recognized as a “Best for Vets” by the military publication for the fourth consecutive year.
