Larry Purnell PhD, RN, FAAN, has had the fourth edition of his textbook, Transcultural Health Care: A Culturally Competent Approach published by F.A. Davis Co (2014) . The textbook has 24 chapters, 21 of them on specific cultural groups commonly found in the US. The other five chapters include are on transcultural diversity and health care, organizational cultural competence, perspectives on nursing in a global context, evidence-based practice, and the Purnell Model for Cultural Competence. This model has been translated into Arabic, Flemish, French, German, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish. An appendix lists environmental, genetic/hereditary, and common diseases commonly found among ethnic groups around the world. In addition to the main textbook, a number of resources are on the web: 14 additional specific cultural groups, web resources, a test bank for student practice, case studies and classroom exercises, and instructor resources with PowerPoint presentations for each chapter and additional test questions.
