You start your day feeling content and happy with your life. You’re dressed and ready to start your day. As you walk into your office you realize that one of your shoes feels looser than the shoe on the other foot. This is when you realize it is the start of a bad day. You have walked out of the house wearing one brown shoe and one black shoe. A few individuals might become angry because of doing something so dumb, while others may contemplate the amount of time it would take to go home and get the correct matching shoe. Then there are the few wise individuals who will sit down and have a good laugh about the situation. Seeing the humor in a situation and laughing about it is good for your health. According to Laughter is the Best Medicine (Smith & Segal, April 2015), laughter relaxes the body, improves the immune system, releases endorphins, and protects your heart. Laughter is free and it is easy to share with your family, friends, and colleagues at work. Take the time to read something funny, watch a comedy, or think about a silly thing you or someone else did; even if all you do is chuckle you’ve started down the road to a healthier life and a less stressful day.
